DD Podhigai (DD 5) channel is the Tamil language channel of Doordarshan. It launched in1993. It is the only channel in India which has 8 hours terrestrial transmission. Its terrestrial transmission starting at 3PM and end at 11PM. It is transmitting cultural, health, agriculture, current affairs, films and news programs etc. DD Podhigai is a 24 hour channel now and it transmitting through Insat 3A at 93.5 degree east.
