Mammootty the Best Actor Award is the new reality show started on 26July 2009 on Asianet.The final sixteen contestants are selected from the selection rounds in which over thousand contestants participate. The show is to find the best actress /actor from the sixteen contestants. The permanent judges of the show are Mrs.Sheela, the ever green actress in Malayalam film industry and Sidique, the director of super hit films in Malayalam. Mr. Kottayam Naseer and another mimicry artist are also participating in the show to reduce the tension of the contestants. Mr.Jagadi Sreekumar the most well known comedy artist in Malayalam film industry is the first gust judge of the show. Mammootty the superstar film artist inaugurated the show with his name. He offers chances in film for the best actor/actress in the show and other able contestants. The show will transmit every Saturday at 9 PM on Asianet.
Even though Asianet introduced the show as the first one like this type in Malayalam, It is quiet false. The first show to select a best actor/actress in Malayalam is the Best Actor show on Amrita TV.
