Amrita TV Welcomes Ramadan With ‘Puniya Nilavu’

The New Moon of Ramadan, which signals the start of the most sacred and extended religious observance of the Muslims, is about to rise. During the month long period of abstinence, as over a billion of the devout fast from daybreak to sunset, Amrita TV journeys through  the practices, customs and  traditions of the most  auspicious month in the Islamic calendar, in a Ramadan special programme Puniya Nilavu.

Puniya Nilavu presents a representative collection of conventional songs,  typical dance forms and time honoured folk art prevalent amongst the Moslem community of Kerala especially those in the districts of Northern Malabar, along with a series of discussions with eminent Muslims whose lives have been uplifted by the divine edicts and cannons of Islam. It will be telecast everyday of Ramadan from August 1st  at 10.30pm UAE .

The programme  includes a feast of traditional Muslim devotional songs as well as Qwaalis,  the dynamic form of Sufi devotional music and Ghazals, lyrical articulation of the pangs of love, all of which are usually sung in the tranquility of the twilight evenings of Ramadan, after  the recital of the sacred duva.

The cadence of the Oppana, the bridal group dance performed during the nuptial ceremony and  the rhythms of Aravana Muttu and Duff Muttu, which resound in the villages of  Malabar will resonate every Ramadan night in Puniya Nilavu.

A banquet of  the delicious  recipes of  Ramadan, the typical soups, grilled meats, sweets, pastries, puddings of  Iftar, the festive evening feast that breaks  the fast and Suhour the pre-dawn meal   taken before the commencement of the fast , form another delectable segment.

Puniya Nilavu, conveys the fragrance, the essence of the holiest month of the Mohammadeans in which the first verses of the sacred Quran were revealed to Prophet Mohammed as a message ‘for all mankind at all times till the end of time’ and voluntary abstinence cleanses the spirit and soul to help attain heights of humility, sacrifice and spiritualism.

India Launched GSAT-12 by PSLV C17 Vehicle

India has successfully launched its new communication satellite GSAT-12 from the second launching pad of Sathish Dawan Space Center,SHAR, Sriharikota.  The satellite is built by ISRO. Polar satellite launch Vehicle (PSLV) C17 Rocket is used to launch the satellite in to its orbit. The satellite weighs 1410 kg at lift-off and 559 Kg dry mass.  GSAT-12 was injected into an elliptical Transfer Orbit of 284 km perigee (closest point to Earth) and 21,000 km apogee (farthest point to Earth).
“I am extremely happy to state that the PSVL-C17 GSAT12 mission is successful. The launch vehicle injected the satellite very precisely into the intended orbit,” a beaming ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan announced.
PSLV-XL,six extended solid strap-on motors are used wherein each strap-on will carry 12 tonnes of solid propellant. This is the second time such configuration is being flown, earlier one being the PSLV-C11/Chandrayaan-1 mission. It is the 18th successful launch of PSLV in a row.
GSAT-12 has 12 extended C band transponders and it would use to tele-medicine and tele-education services and 'more importantly' provide support for disaster management. It solar array providing 1430 watts of electricity and has a 64Ah Li-ion Batteries.  It also has a 0.7 meter diameter body mounted parabolic receive antenna and a 1.2 meter diameter polarization sensitive deployable antenna. The satellite would be co-located with Insat2E and Insat 4A at 83 degree east. This satellite is a small one, less weighs and less power to compare other geostationary satellites of India. The main achievement of the launch is that ISRO could use the PSLV vehicle to launch a geostationary satellite where the last two launch of GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle) failed. But India must develop the GSLV to launch the geostationary satellites weighs 2 to 2.5 tonne’s.

Taste Of Kerala Acquires A New Flavour From July 17th

Taste of Kerala, one  of Amrita TV’s  most highly rated programmes  that has tallied over 225  delicious episodes  to its credit  will undergo a change–over,  in both its flavor and ingredients from Sunday, July 17th at 12.30 noon.

Taking over the anchoring reins will be a smart, chic young model from Bangalore, to help bring a fresh, feminine touch that is more in tune with the woman’s domain of cookery show. Roaming the thoroughfares  and by lanes on her custom-made bike in search of novel and original tastes, Serah will present time-tested recipes of the unsung ‘chefs’ in ordinary kitchens who concoct gastronomical masterpieces on a daily basis.

Next, Taste of Kerala expands its horizons to bring travelogue within its gambit, so that it becomes a journey of discovery that uncovers not just the cuisine, but also highlights the hotspots and culture of a locality. It travels to remote villages holding fast to its traditions, to faraway hamlets lying off the beaten track and goes on a sightseeing tour, before settling down to enjoy the gourmet dishes of its native housewives. Sometimes it drops in at celebrity kitchens to collect their favorite preparations.

The new avatar of Taste of Kerala launches itself with a celebrity episode involving the cast and crew of the newly released Salt N Pepper, a love story revolving around 2 middle aged foodies who fall for each other when they collaborate to make an 8-layaered pudding. The show joins Mythili, Baburaj, Ashiq Abu etc as Baburaj the reel cook shows off his real life culinary skills, dishing up Kappa and Mutton Ularthiyathu while the others join in the chopping, slicing and sautéing heartily.

Taste of Kerala had transformed cookery shows in Kerala from studio-based chef presentations to home baked recipe series, delivered hot from the hearth. Now, by becoming a travelogue-cookery show, Taste of Kerala literally lives up to its name, so that the viewers can savour the taste, sights, sounds and the very ambience of Kerala.

Zee TV Change its Logo

ZEE TV unveils its new Corporate Brand Identity 'Umeed Se Saje Zindagi'
Mumbai, 18 June 2011: Zee TV, India's leading Hindi entertainment channel, announces a new brand identity featuring a new logo with a slogan 'Umeed Se Saje Zindagi' with the objective of taking forward a progressive outlook for the channel. Under this initiative, ZEEL MD & CEO, Punit Goenka shared a first look of the new brand identity for its flagship Hindi entertainment channel, Zee TV, at a press conference in Mumbai. The new logo, packaging and positioning was unveiled in the event 'Umeed ka Naya Chehra' that will be telecast on 19th June 2011 at 9 pm on Zee TV.
Launched in 1992 against the backdrop of post-liberalization with its social, cultural and economic upheaval, Zee brought a new meaning to entertainment in India. It created a revolution in entertainment broadcast technology with its content, which mirrored the common man's life and dreams. Eighteen years later it stands tall as a leading player in India and the largest Indian entertainment network in the world. Zee TV shares a very strong emotional bond with its viewers. It has endured due to its ability to innovate and keep pace with changing times and expectations. A reflection of the adage that tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.
With its longstanding heritage and strong connect, Zee TV has bridged the gap between the older and emerging paradigms and championed new beliefs through its stories and characters. Zee TV shows like Saat Phere, Betiyaan, Kasam Se… caught the pulse of the changing ethos rooted in socio-cultural issues. Present day shows such as Pavitra Rishta, Dance India Dance, Jhansi ki Rani, Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya hi Kijo… champion an emerging value: It is not about where you come from or where you fall, it's about your belief that you can get back and shape your life the way you want it. This insight defines the essence of brand Zee TV captured in the new brand slogan 'Umeed Se Saje Zindagi'.
Speaking on the occasion, Punit Goenka, ZEEL MD & CEO said, "We believe the time is right to infuse renewed freshness into the brand and reflect an identity that truly articulates our spirit. The new positioning is about a celebration and vindication of a woman's emerging beliefs and a reflection of her changing hopes, dreams and optimism. This essence is very well captured in the line, 'Umeed Se Saje Zindagi'.  Since its launch, Zee TV has always showcased content that made the common man its superstar. As it heads to a new look, we acknowledge their contribution in making us India's leading GEC and unveiling our new brand identity would have been incomplete without them.  The bond the channel has built over the last two decades will be strengthened by involving our viewers in revealing the new logo and giving them a sense of ownership.”

“Zee TV's programming has always been one where our viewers forge strong friendships with our characters and create great memories while sharing quality time with their families. Content created for the entire family is what sets us apart from others. Keeping with this DNA of the brand, Zee TV premieres two new shows, Shobha Somnath Ki and Mrs Kausik Ki Paanch Bahuein on 20th June at 8 pm and 10 pm respectively.  India Ke Jaanbaaz is another upcoming reality show with real heroes that will make the common man a superstar.”

Developed by the in-house team, Zee TV's aqua blue colour new logo features a stylish font. The new age design with its upward flourish signifies the upward movement of desires and wishes. The abstract form of the 'Z' and vibrancy of aqua blue bring in modernity and freshness to the brand. “The unshackling of the 'Z' from the box symbolizes today's woman's zest for life and confidence to go out in the world beyond her home. The overall design has a progressive feel and reflects the idea of looking into the future with hope and depicts a more dynamic and spirited outlook. The rainbow of hope is a very important element of the new packaging. It is colourful, ethereal and symbolically emphasizes the promise of 'Umeed Se Saje Zindagi'… celebrating hope and life,” says Goenka.
Zee TV has closely collaborated with its creative agency Draft FCB-Ulka to develop the new corporate brand TVC. Produced by Equinox, it captures that the sky is our canvas. This was brought through by the protagonist in the TVC—the girl-child—and her desire to succeed. It's a metaphor for the woman, echoing the emerging paradigms with fresh beliefs and a zest for life. Lending credibility and her soulful voice to this tribute along with noted playback singer Kavita Seth, is Snithi Mishra, the young girl from Orissa who is also a Sa Re Ga Ma Pa prodigy. The film is directed by one of India's highly acclaimed ad film-maker, Ram Madhvani. The music is composed by Rajat Dholakia a national award winning music director who has composed for over 300 jingles and several movies.

The Network undertook the biggest BTL activity for viewers to be a central part of its new brand identity exercise. It mobilized millions of viewers from all around the world to make them feel special and participate in unveiling the logo at the 'Umeed Ka Naya Chehra' event in Mumbai. Zee TV's new brand identity is being launched with a powerful advertising campaign and a 360° media approach.
As the preferred channel for viewers and advertisers, Zee TV continues to grow and evolve, increase brand loyalty and lead content innovation. Zee TV is driven by creativity and innovation, yet still deeply rooted in Indian heritage and values. Consistent with the spirit of ZEE TV, the new brand identity 'Umeed Se Saje Zindagi' is by the viewers, of the viewers and for the viewers.

Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs

Sing along at the click of a mouse
Mumbai, 27th June 2011: Zee TV's Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs  is coming not just near your doorstep…even closer… it will just be at the click of your computer mouse. All you need is a computer, microphone and an internet connection, not to mention an indefatigable spirit of singing!

Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs has associated with Singchana.com, an online karaoke website, that allows users to match the renditions of their favourite songs against the pitch of the original singer. Young aspiring singers can sing karaoke, practice their singing, and challenge friends via the web to beat their score. The website takes the player's voice and converts it automatically into a visual representation which is simultaneously compared with the original singer's voice. Players then score according to how closely their singing matches the pitch and tone of the original. On default, the site also records whatever was sung, letting users play it back for their own enjoyment, or to share with their friends on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, who in turn might launch their own challenge by singing their own version of the song. But playing it back also allows the player to keep a track record of their singing, letting them hear how far they have come as amateur singers.

Akash Chawla, Marketing Head, National Channels, ZEEL, says, “Karaoke can be fun at any age and it always brings with it elements of zest, freshness and zing. In addition to being entertaining for users, it's a very useful platform for content providers to use it as another interactive touchpoint to reach out to their loyal viewers and also for the participants to gain additional exposure and make fans. We feel that when you involve the viewers at every stage of a show, it creates a greater sense of connect with them.  Our association with Singchana.com is just another step towards upping the cool quotient of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs and we will keep coming up with more such cooler initiatives to promote our shows.”

“Also, the show's popularity on Youtube has been humungous. The count has crossed 2,86,680 hits since 2 weeks of its launch. This validates our efforts in presenting pure musical talent rather than resorting to gimmicks”. Added Mr. Chawla.

With this kind of an association and path breaking innovation, Zee TV is looking at getting maximum participation from viewers of all age groups to try their hand at singing and create a distinct buzz about Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs in the market.

The 24 Ku band transponders will augment the capacity in the INSAT system. The GAGAN payload provides the Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS), through which the accuracy of the positioning information obtained from the GPS Satellite is improved by a network of ground based receivers and made available to the users in the country through the geostationary satellites.
