Amrita TV’s Exclusive Coverage of Sabarimala Peak Season
As the season of pilgrimage draws near in Sabarimala, the most famous of Sasta Temples, Amrita TV introduces special segments in its news bulletins to cover the significant happenings of the two month long period.
Elaborate arrangements to keep track of the action at the summit have been taken because , unlike other temples that are accessible all the year through, Sabarimala opens its shrine only at specific times of the year.
Each Sabarimala special will be a 2-3 minute visually rich, information packed capsule that punctuates the newscasts at 8am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 6pm and 10 pm.
The exclusive segments, transmitted during the entire 60 day duration of the pilgrimage, beginning from November 15th will capture the two highlights of the period, Mandalapooja on November 16th and Makaravilakku on January 14th ; summarise the important programmes, events and special rituals held at the temple on a daily basis; notify Devaswom Board announcements, carry reports on VIP visits and their press conferences.
Since Sabarimala is the largest pilgrimage centre in the world, with an estimated 50 million devotees trekking up the 18 steps to salvation every year, emphasis will be given to the amenities available to them, the problems that they face, centers for redressal of grievances etc.
The special segments will keep both the devotees readying themselves for the spiritual journey through 40 days of abstinence and the many millions at home, abreast of the latest developments at the sanctum sanctorum of Sabarimala.

SunDirect And Shalom TV
Shalom TV- the Malayalam Christian devotional channel disappeared from the channel bouquet of SunDirect. This bad thing has happened on 25th February 2009. People who have brought “SunDirect” only in the presence of Shalom in “SunDirect bouquet” shocked with this action. A lot of emails I have get about this issue to my email address: aruncherai72@gmail.com and could know some people migrate to other DTH platforms. Some comments in our blogspot http://channelsforindia.blogspot shows their great regret to the action of “SunDirect”. From reading some of the comments I cloud understand the problem is the carriage fees. Shalom TV is a spiritual channel, free to air channel and no commercial aims to the channel. So they are not ready to give the carriage fees.
On the other hand Indian DTH industry faces serious financial problem. DTH companies could not make a penny as their profit and increase lose day to day. It is believes that one core connection is required to make a DTH company as profitable. To reduce the lose they insist on the carriage fees from the TV channels.
SunDirect must understand the popularity of Shalom TV in Kerala. There are 20% christen population in Kerala that means seven million people believes in Christianity in Kerala.Most of the Christian people are financially above middle class and a huge number of them are financially high class people. They are the viewers of Shalom TV. Don’t calculate the Christian population that bought the “SunDirect” now. This action may cause removal of existing “SunDirect” connection by “Christine” people and they may migrate other DTH companies who is giving Shalom TV in their package. It will also reduce the number of Christian people taking fresh “SunDirect” connection.

How to reduce KU band signal problems in the rainy seasons?
1.Focus for the maximum signal
Focus your dish antenna for the maximum signal strength.By improving signal it can ensure the minimum signal to work for the set top box in the rainy season.
2.Use a dish antenna with more diameter
if the problem still remaining after focusing your dish antenna for the maximum signal,the problem may be the size of your dish antenna.If you use a 60 cm Ku band dish now change it with a 90 cm or 120 cm dish .It will help to improve the signal strength and also help to reduce the signal problem in rainy seasons.
3. Use a C band stamped metal dish instead of Ku band dish
It can use a C band metal dish or fiber dish in the place of Ku band dish antenna to avoid the signal problem completely.Don’t use a C band dish with perforated sheet.Use the Ku band LNB in the place of C band LNB.
Main problems of C band dish antenna compare to Ku band dish antenna
- Big in size:So C band dish antenna wants more space to install to compare Ku band dish antenna
- Capture wind:More in size means increase the chance to capture the wind .So avoid to install the C band dish antenna on much height.

I am Krishna Kumar and at present in Nigeria, I saw your blog regarding Indian DTH companies. I want to know can I watch any Malayalam channels in Nigeria. At present there is no option to watch any Malayalam channels. I bring Dish TV set up box and LNB from India and tried, also not working. The local service provider is saying this set up box and LNB can work in big dish antenna. Kindly confirm if the big dish can get the signal from our satellites.

Answer: To receive a satellite channel depend upon the footprint of the satellite and the size of the dish antenna. All DTH providers in India have no coverage in Africa. So you cannot able to capture the signal of Dish TV in Nigeria even though by using a big dish antenna. There may be a chance to receive the c band wide signal from Insat 2 E at 83 degree by using a 16 feet and above dish antenna.

Answer: Insat 2E has foot print in North Africa and it does not have footprint in South African regions. But it does not means that it cannot receive in the South African regions. Its signal is very weak in south regions. So it needs to use a big dish antenna to receive the signal and recommend for a big size antenna. It may be need a 22 feet dish antenna to receive the signal from Insat 2E in Nigeria. If you win to capture the Insat 2E signals you will get the Malayalam channels Asianet News, Asianet Middle East ,Kairali,We,People.Amrita,Jaihind,Indiavision,Yes Indiavision, Jeeven and Manorama news etc.

Answer: DD Direct Plus has coverage in India and some adjacent countries only. First confirm its signal available in Yemen. If it gets the signal in Yemen please change the antenna setting of your Eurostar receiver as below to receive the channel.
1. Press the "Menu" button on your remote and select the option "Installation”. 2. Select Antenna setting from the options and select any satellite name.3. Change the LNB type as universal or 9750Mhz 4.Set the 22Khz as “Off” and save the settings and then select " Manual Search" option and make sure the satellite name is the same which you set in the "Antenna Setting". Then set the frequency, symbol rate, and polarization (Vertical) and FEC as auto in your Eurostar receiver and press "Red" button on the remote control for scan.

I am using 8 feet metal dish and using Two LNB. Now available in Insat 4B, "C" band signal and I got Some DD channel ETV and other FTA channels. My doubt is can I get Ku band signal in same dish and position, and another doubt is Ku and C band signals strength are same or not?

Answer: You can receive Ku band (DD Direct Plus) channels in the same direction of Insat 4B by using a Ku band LNB in your 8 feet dish antenna. If the antenna is a perforated sheet antenna it may face difficult to get the Ku band signal.
Please confirm the Ku band signal of DD Direct Plus is available in Yemen. If the signal of DD direct Plus is available in Yemen, you can use an LNB with both C and Ku band. So you can view both C band and Ku band channels from Insat 4B.
There are two type of signal from satellites. They are zonal beam and wide beam. Zonal beam focus for a particular area and have a low range of coverage to compare with wide beam. All Indian DTH companies are using zonal beams for their transmission. The signal strength of C and Ku band are depend upon the foot print of the satellite and power of the satellite.
