KM Mathew Dead

images1Mr. KM Mathew, the chief editor of Malayala Manorama daily news paper in Malayalam language dead on 1 August 2010 in his own residence at Kangikuzi in Kottayam. He was 93 years old. He is the 8th child of Kandathil KC Mamanmapilla and Kunjadama (Mami) and born on 2nd January 1917. He is worked with 56 years for Malayala Manorama. Joined in 1954 and become the chief editor of Manorama in 1973. When he became the chief editor Manorama has only one bureau and only 30000 copies sell in a day. Now Manorama has over 18 lakh copies and 17 bureaus in India and abroad. Manorama weekly, Bahaposhani, Vanitha, The week and Blarama are the some of the publications from Malayala Manorama. Manorama news – a news channel in Malayalam language, Radio Mango-FM radio service from Manorama, Manorama Music-Music Company, Manorama Online are the other services under Manorama group. In 1998 he got Padmabhushan award from India Government. The famous cooking expert late Mrs. KM. Mathew was his wife who published over two dozen books about cooking’s in Malayalam language and in English. She was the chief editor of Vanitha, a publication in Malayalam for women from Malayala Manorama till her death in 2003.
