DD Direct Plus- New Channels

DD Direct Plus continues to cheating its customers after 5 years of its launch. On 16 December 2004, worlds only free to air DTH provider started its journey. It first promised to increase the channel number to 100 with in one year. But it remains as a mirage after five years of its launch. Now 59 channels are available in this platform and two of them are test feeds. Now the carriage fee of channels is decreases from one crore to 25 lakh for Indian channels and 50 lakh for foreign channels. It is wrong to think that there is no interest to TV channels to come in to DD Direct Plus DTH. There are 90 channels of 82 broadcasters are waiting for a berth in DD Direct Plus. It needs to increase the number of transponders to give berth to all of the 90 channels. Government has planned to increase the number of transponders. But this increase of transponders cannot carry all of the channels in the waiting list. Only 38 channels can give place by this improvement of transponders. ND TV, IBN7, TV24, Ne TV, Sakshi TV, Zee, Sahara and Star News are the some of the broadcasters are waiting for a berth in DD Direct Plus.
Last heared: I&B minister Ambika Sony declared that the number of channels in DD Direct Plus would increase to 100 channels in 2011 March. And will increase the channel number to 200 in 2011 December.
