Check Signal Level Of Dish TV

When Dish TV installed in our home and starts to view channels ,it is all for the ordinary people. But there are many other things to learn about your DTH connection. The most important things to know about how much signal that the set top box is receiving from the satellite. To find it the “STB Information” function is using in the Dish TV Set top box .You can understand how much signal strength and signal quality that your Dish TV has?

First turn on the set top box and press the “Menu” button on the remote controller.The menu window will appears as below.

Press “CH+ Or CH-” button until the white colored label reaches on the “Setting” tab as the below picture. A submenu “Settings” will appear on the right upper side of the window.

Then press”VOL+” button on the remote controller to enter to the “Submenu” . A blue colored label will appear on the “General” tab in the “Submenu”. And then press “CH+ Or CH-"until reaches the tab “STB info” and press “Ok”. The signal intensity and strength will appear on your screen as below.

From the above picture you can understand the signal strength is 73% and Signal quality is 81%.It is a good signal strength and signal quality.

After one installed the DTH in our home we must check the signal as above method or ask the installer to show the “STB Information”?. when signal quality higher than 80% is a good signal quality when it decreases the chance to the “No Signal" message increases.

When I am writing this article there is a medium rain fall in my country then what happened to the signal strength and signal quality? see in the picture below.

The signal strength decreases as 55%(-8) and signal quality decreases as 65%(-16). In this case the decrease in signal strength and signal quality does not affect the picture because it is above the least signal want to work the set top box.

If you think 40% is the least signal quality to need to work Dish TV set top box,the installer set the signal strength as 45% and what will happen in case of a rain. A 6% decrease in signal quality will cause the “No signal” message on your screen.
