FOX HISTORY AND ENTERTAINMENT:My City My History



  • Over 3,700 entries received for FOX History & Entertainment’s innovative school engagement programme to explore untold stories about our heritage
  • Five winners get an opportunity of a lifetime to present their stories on the channel
image004New Delhi, Wednesday, February 10,image005    2010: FOX History & Entertainment in association with programme partner, INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage) invited the  national winners of its first nationwide school engagement programme, My City My Historyat a heritage walk organized at New Delhi’s historical Lodhi GardensThe heritage walk covered the tomb of Muhammad Shah SayyidBara GumbadSheesh Gumbad, the Tomb of Sikandar Lodi, etc. Renowned artist, image006-Anjolie Ela Menon was present as the Chief Guest to felicitate the winners of this unique initiative. In its first edition, the programme received over 3,700 entries from school children across the country.
My City My History was launched to encourage school children to highlight the historical treasures in their respective cities; which in-turn helped them in learning a lot more about their heritage. The final five winners from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Kathua have received a once in a lifetime opportunity to present their stories on FOX History & Entertainment. The channel will shoot a 15-minute short film with each winner at his/her chosen historical location, which will be showcased on the channel in March. All other participants have received certificates of participation and merit based awards.

Speaking about the programme, Sudha Sadhanand, Vice President – Programming, FOX History & Entertainment said, “At FOX History & Entertainment, it is our endeavour to take history beyond just textbooks and make it interesting and National winners of My City My History - Rishita Ray, Karishma Shiraj Mulani, Aneequa Ahmed, Gourav Sharma and Hitesh Shetty entertaining for viewers. With this objective, we launched a unique nationwide school engagement programme last year. Having received a very encouraging response in its very first year, My City My History is going to be an annual initiative for us. We are proud to have initiated such a concept that inspires young minds to showcase the heritage of their respective cities and become more responsible towards the historical treasures of our country.”

Winners of My City My History with Anjolie Ela Menon, Sudha Sadhanand (VP Programming-FOX) and Mr Misra (Chairman-INTACH) With this endeavour, FOX History & Entertainment reached out to over 5-lakh children, between 11-15 years of age (class VI-IX) from 800 reputed schools across the country. The entries received were shortlisted by a panel of jury members comprising of INTACH and FOX History & Entertainment representatives. The judging criterion was the factual correctness, uniqueness and the composition of the story. Students were asked to submit their entries in Hindi or English, which included a mandatory written submission with an option of supporting material in any format including photographs, videos, PowerPoint, etc.
FOX History & Entertainment promoted the initiative extensively online, on-air and on-ground. As part of the programme, special heritage walks were organized across 25 cities in India.  The initiative was also supported by Funskool as the associate sponsor, in.com as the online partner and BIG 92.7 FM as the radio partner. For further details on the initiative, log on to www.foxhistory.com/mycity
