Zee television considered as the first private satellite television channel owned by an Indian. It is a Hindi general entertainment channel transmitting all around the clock. It began transmission on October 1992. When I have first seen this channel it was transmitting through Asiasat 1 on the same direction of Asiasat 3 S now (105.5 degree east). It was an analogue free to air channel then and the signal was weak in some states in India. I could not get this channel clearly with my 10 feet perforated sheet dish antenna. Later this channel turns to digital mode (MPEG-2). Now Zee TV is a channel under Zee Network and Zee Network is one of the main broadcasters in India. Zee Network has a DTH company of its own named Dish TV and it transmitting over 200 channels in different categories.
