Sun TV Migrate To Mpeg4 Mode

Sun TV is to change its digital compression mode from Mpeg2 to Mpeg4. Sun Network will give the Mpeg4 receivers to the cable operators in Kerala with free of cost. The change will take place with in two or four days.
By this change Sun TVs aims to control expenditure of transmitting through the C Band transponders. Now Sun Network has two transponders in C-band. The frequency of one transponder is 4045 MHz, Symbol Rate: 28000 Polarity: Horizontal. The second transponder Frequency is: 3885 MHz symbol Rate: 28000 Polarization: Horizontal. The first transponder could carries five channels when the second transponder could carries fifteen channels in Mpeg2 mode. Think the total twenty channels transmitting through one transponder .The Mpeg4 encoding offers a more channel carrying capacity through a single transponder than Mpeg2 encoding. Now Sun Network announce change of its channel encoding method from Mpeg2 to Mpeg 4 method I think a single transponder is enough to transmit all the C Band Sun Networks channels. It will help Sun Network to avoid the huge cost of one C band transponder. They will transmit all of their Channels through the frequency as 4045 symbol rate as 28000 and polarization: Horizontal.
SunDirect DTH subscribers need not worry about this issue. All the Sun channels available in SunDirect DTH remain as earlier. The subscribers could enjoy the channels without changing the DTH dish antenna and digital set top box.
Home Dish Users need to upgrade their Mpeg2 decoding digital satellite receiver to Mpeg4 decoding digital satellite receiver. Its cost still not available and it may be between Rs: 1500 and Rs: 2000. Mpeg4 receivers are backward compatible with Mpeg2 receiver. That means it can use for receiving both Mpeg2 and Mpeg4 channels. Simply it can use for Surya (Mpeg4) and it can use for Asianet (Mpeg2).
Surya TV,Kiran and Chutti TV are now available in Mpeg2 mode from Asiasat4 at 122.5 Degree east.
