Sun TV is a channel in Tamil Language. It started to telecasting from the first half of 1993. Kalanidhi Maran is the Managing Director and chairman of Sun TV. Sun TV was transmitted as a party channel of DMK(A major political party in Tamilnadu). But later it lost its position as a party channel of DMK by publishing a survey report against the party in their daily news paper named Dinakaran. . Kalanidhi Maran's brother Dayanidhi Maran ,who was a minister of DMK that time resign from the central cabinet IT minister post for this reason.Sun TV has a wide gallery of Tamil movies. When it was a channel on DD Direct Plus DTH platform ,Tamilnadu was the most growing market of DD Direct Plus DTH in India. It shows the popularity of this channel. Later unfortunately it stopped to transmitting through DD Direct Plus Platform and became a pay channel. Now it transmitting variety of programs for 24 hours a day. Cinema,music serials and many other attractive programs are transmitting trough this channel.
