Amrita TV’s Programmes Enhance The Lustre Of Diwali

On October 26th , as the fireworks explode heavenwards, painting the skies into a gigantic landscape of brilliant sparks and rainbow hues, Amrita TV celebrates Diwali by sketching a series of programmes across the canvas of the festive day.

At 9.00am while the day glistens in the radiant beams of a young sun, Amrita TV presents Mummy & Me, a coming of age movie that showcases Archana Kavi in an author backed role, along with sparkling performances from a supporting cast consisting of   Urvashi,  Mukesh, Kunchako Boban, Suresh Gopi etc.

When the astronomical sun rules the heavens  at the zenith of its power Snehathanthram, a programme featuring another sun Mohanlal who holds the reins of  the silver screen, in conversation with Sathyan Anthicaud will go on air at 2.30pm.

Under the burning rays of the fiery afternoon, scorching the television screens appears Harimuraleeravam at 3.30pm, a glowing musical tribute to master lyricist Girish Puthencherry, in which the glitterati  of the film world that includes acclaimed   director Shyamaprasad, famous music director M.Jayachandran, veteran actor Siddique, an overwhelming  playback line up of Sujatha, Madhu Balakrishnan, Gayathri and Sudeep Kumar,  come together to pay obeisance to the maestro in a musical concert, in which they sing the best and most popular songs from his exquisite compositions.

When the blazing sun that crowned the day slips over the horizon, the pearly luminance of the dusk is brightened by the luster of a row of celebrity performances from the patriarch of Malayalam film music P.Jayachandran, noted singer Palakkad Sriram, playback stars Madhu Balakrishnan and Manjari followed by a dazzling dance number from starlet-anchor Malavika in a Diwali special episode of Super Star The Ultimate at 7.30pm.

At 8.30pm while the shimmer of little oil lamps lit in every Indian home rolls back the inky blackness of the Amavasi night, the spotlight turns on Super Dancer Junior-4 ,with a special devotional performance by current title holder Fida,a semi-classical performance by gorgeous anchor Sheha, a pure classical rendition of the story of Diwali’s origin by a group of Kalmandalam alumni and much more.

Finally as the contestants and judges of  Super Dancer Junior-4 join hands onstage to commemorate the vibrant festival, the lamps are snuffed out in this year’s Diwali and  another Festival of Lights dissolves into the wispy fumes of our memories.
