Independence Day Special Shows From Amrita TV

On August 15th , as the tricolor unfurls proudly atop the ramparts of the Red Fort to commemorate India’s tryst with destiny, Amrita TV pays tribute to millions of martyrs who had laid down their lives for the liberty of their land, through a series of special shows.

The special day programmes opens aptly on a patriotic note with a live look-in  on the colourful Independence day celebrations unfolding at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium at 8.30am, where the proceedings will be inaugurated by the CM by hoisting the National flag, followed by an impressive march past of the State Police Forces.

The highlight of the day is the Grand Finale of Deva Geetham, Amrita TV’s courageous exploration of the terrain of Christian religious music, to be telecast at 3.30pm. On August  15th , rendered doubly auspicious by also being the day of  the  Feast of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the final 3 contestant groups- Voice of Jerusalem, Chertala, Zion’s Singers, Trivandrum and Spiritual Waves, Thalasseri- will perform at their fervent best in the last leg of the first ever reality show for choir songs. Presided over by an elite jury panel  consisting of  Ouseppachan, Shibu Chakravarthy and Father Antony Uruliannikkal, the competitors will engage in a fierce musical combat  in the Finale Rounds of Choral Singing, Medley and Hymns that will decide the finest Christian choral group in Kerala.

The Mani Ratnam directed Uyire starring Shahrukh Khan, Manisha Koirala and Preity Zinta that addresses the issue of terrorism, will go on air at 9.30 am.  

Q-Matrix at 2.00pm, the phone-in Game Show which gifts a bounty in gold to fortunate participants, welcomes the momentous day with a fascinating new   virtual set and a visual segment featuring the photos of famous freedom fighters of the Indian Independence struggle.

Super Dancer Junior-3 comes up with an engrossing episode at 8.00pm in which all 8 contestants come together to execute  a group medley that combines all the prominent dance forms of Kerala; NISH, the organization for the Deaf and Dumb gives an amazing dance performance proving that their handicap is no deterrent to artistic expression and  Alliance Francais presents a song as a  French toast to the day, thus  winding up Amrita TV’s  salutation to the Nation’s 64th Independence Day.
